conference proceedings & Special Issues
Accepted papers presented at EPA 2026 will be published in the official conference proceedings, and selected high-quality submissions will be invited to extended special issues with our partner journals.
Overview
Publishing in the EPA 2026 proceedings places your research in front of an interdisciplinary, international audience that includes academic peers, industry R&D teams, government delegations, and investors actively scouting commercial-ready innovations. We’re committed to promoting the works published in the EPA conference proceedings, so high-quality contributions are visible beyond the event and reach the communities best positioned to build on, apply, and amplify them.
To further extend the reach of the most impactful contributions, the conference has also partnered with four leading scientific journals to host dedicated special issues for selected, extended versions of conference papers. These special issues will provide authors with an additional pathway to develop their proceedings papers into full journal articles, deepen the scientific discussion, and strengthen the long-term impact of their work.
Your publishing pathway
The journey from submission to indexed publication follows five clear steps:
- Step 1: Submit a Full Paper (6–8 pages), Short Paper (3–4 pages), Extended Abstract (1–2 pages), or Abstract (200–300 words) through the official submission website, using the provided Word, LaTeX, or Overleaf template.
- Step 2: Peer review. Each submission is evaluated by independent reviewers in a single-blind process coordinated by the Technical Program Committee.
- Step 3: Camera-ready preparation. Authors of accepted papers submit final source files (Word or LaTeX) using the official template, together with the signed copyright form.
- Step 4: Presentation at EPA 2026, August 10–14, 2026. At least one author of each accepted paper must register and present on-site or in a designated virtual session.
- Step 5: Publication. By default, all presented papers are included in the official EPA 2026 Conference Proceedings. The Track Chairs and Special Issue Editors then identify the selected papers in each track and invite the authors to prepare extended versions for the partner journal special issues.
Open access and copyright
The conference supports open access publishing and is committed to making agricultural research as widely accessible, discoverable, and reusable as possible. Authors retain copyright in their work and grant EPA a non-exclusive right to publish, disseminate, and promote accepted papers through the official conference proceedings and related media channels and formats. Authors may continue to use, share, and build upon their contributions, including for teaching, presentations, future research, posting on personal or institutional repositories, and incorporation into a thesis or dissertation, provided that appropriate citation to the published proceedings version is included.
Extended papers submitted to partner journal special issues will be subject to the publication and copyright policies of the respective journals; authors should review the publication and copyright information provided by those journals before submission.
All accepted papers published in the EPA 2026 Conference Proceedings will be submitted for indexing in major scholarly databases and academic discovery platforms, including Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Crossref, ensuring maximum visibility and citability for your research within the global scientific community.
Special Issues
Authors invited to submit to the special issue have the option to either:
- publish only an abstract or an extended abstract in the EPA proceedings and submit the full paper to the special issue, or
- augment their work by including at least 40% new content, including methodology, results, findings, and discussion points, if they choose to have their short or full papers be included in the EPA proceedings.
We are hosting special issues in the following journals to feature high-quality submissions from the conference. This list will be expanded to provide broad coverage of the various conference themes.

Is presenting at the conference required for publication?
Yes. At least one author of each accepted paper must register for EPA 2026 and present the work on-site in Calgary or, where authorised, in a designated virtual session.
How are papers selected for the journal special issues?
The Track Chairs and Special Issue Editors review all accepted papers in their tracks after the conference and invite the authors of the strongest contributions to submit extended manuscripts. Invitations are typically sent within four weeks of the conference closing.
Do extended versions submitted to a special issue go through additional peer review?
Yes. Invitations are not guarantees of acceptance. Extended manuscripts are reviewed under the editorial standards of the host journal.
Who do I contact with publication questions?
No. Submissions to EPA 2026 must be original and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Significantly extended versions of already published works are welcome, provided the new contribution is clearly stated.
Can I submit work that has already been published elsewhere?
Please use the Contact page for general questions, or write directly to your Track Chair (listed on the Tracks page) for track-specific publication questions.
When are the submission deadlines for the special issues?
The exact submission deadline for each special issue will be communicated by the respective journal. However, the submission deadline for special issues is normally in late November 2026.
Will abstracts, extended abstracts, and short papers also be considered for special issues?
Based on the presentation at the conference, the Track Chairs will decide on selected papers. Abstracts, extended abstracts, and short papers may also be invited to submit extended versions to the special issues, based on the perceived quality of the work and presentation by the Track Chairs.
